KD SCHMID is delighted to continue working with Seong-Jin Cho in this enhanced general management capacity going forward, five years after the general management relationship began.
Holding the position of the Berliner Philharmoniker’ Artist-in-Residence this season, Seong-Jin Cho has established himself worldwide as one of the leading pianists of his generation. Additional 2024/25 highlights have included a return to North America to open the Philadelphia Orchestra’s season with Yannick Nézet-Séguin, as well as returns to the New York Philharmonic and Chicago Symphony Orchestra with Santtu-Matias Rouvali, and to The Cleveland Orchestra with Franz Welser-Möst. Recital appearances have included the Celebrity Series in Boston, University Musical Society in Ann Arbor, Washington Performing Arts in Washington D.C., at Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco, and Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles. Cho notably returned to Carnegie Hall in a sold-out recital of the complete solo piano works by Ravel, which was broadcast live worldwide on Carnegie Hall+ and Deutsche Grammophon's STAGE+.
Cho marks the 150th anniversary of Ravel’s birth in 2025 by recording his complete solo piano works and the two piano concertos in partnership with Deutsche Grammophon. Ravel: The Complete Solo Piano Works and Ravel: The Piano Concertos recorded with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Andris Nelsons, have already received critical acclaim worldwide. Cho continues to tour his Ravel programme this summer throughout Europe and Asia, before heading to U.S. Summer Festivals.
