Jan Lisiecki joins KD SCHMID for General Management

We are thrilled to announce that Jan Lisiecki has joined us for worldwide general management.

Calgary-born Jan Lisiecki began playing piano at the age of five, making his orchestral debut at the age of nine. His breakthrough came at the 2008 "Chopin and his Europe" Festival in Warsaw, where his rendition of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 garnered widespread acclaim.

At fifteen, Lisiecki signed an exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon, releasing nine albums and the recipient of several awards including the Diapason d’Or, JUNO and the Gramophone Critics’ Choice awards. At eighteen, Lisiecki became both the youngest ever recipient of Gramophone’s Young Artist Award and received the Leonard Bernstein Award. He was named UNICEF Ambassador to Canada in 2012.

Today, at 28, Lisiecki has established himself as one of the worldwide leading pianists of his generation, recognised for his distinctive talent and musical maturity. With over 100 concerts annually and collaborations with top conductors and orchestras, he has affirmed himself as a renowned virtuoso. In March 2024, he will make his solo recital debut at Carnegie Hall and with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.

Managing Director Karen McDonald says, "On the eve of his Carnegie Hall debut, we are thrilled and honoured to welcome Jan Lisiecki to KD SCHMID. Jan has had an incredible artistic journey, and we look forward to further building on this momentum together, supporting him to realise his unique creative vision."
