Andris Nelsons and the Wiener Philharmoniker Embark on Asian Tour with Seong-Jin Cho

This week Andris Nelsons embarks on an extensive tour with world-renowned Wiener Philharmoniker across South Korea, China, and Japan. They kick off in Seoul, South Korea, and are joined in their first week of concerts by our own Seong-Jin Cho.

Under Nelsons’ experienced baton, Cho takes to the stage in his home city of Seoul at Seoul Arts Center on Friday 25th and Lotte Concert Hall on Saturday 26th to perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 in C minor. Also on the programme is Strauss’ tone poem, 'Ein Heldenleben', generally agreed to be autobiographical in nature as well as one of Strauss’ most orchestrally demanding works.

Andris Nelsons’ continues on tour with the Wiener Philharmoniker with further performances in Beijing, Shanghai, Xi’An, Guangzhou, Kawasaki, Hamamatsu, Osaka, Fukui, and Tokyo. Together they perform three alternating programmes of Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.3 and Strauss’ 'Ein Heldenleben'; Shostakovich’s Symphony No.9 in E flat major and Dvorak’s Symphony No.7 in D minor; and Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 1 and Mahler 5.

Soloists joining the rest of the tour include Japanese-American violinist Midori and Israeli-American pianist Yefim Bronfman.

Further details and remaining tickets can be found on the Wiener Philharmoniker’s official website.
