Andris Nelsons and the Boston Symphony Orchestra conclude European Summer Tour

Following a number of scintillating performances at the BBC Proms in London, the Lucerne and Salzburg Festivals, as well as concert halls in Ljubljana, Cologne, and Dortmund, Music Director Andris Nelsons and the BSO are now embarking on the final leg of their critically acclaimed European tour.

This evening, September 05, they will perform at the Philharmonie Berlin with renowned pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet, before travelling to Hamburg tomorrow, where they will play at the Elbphilharmonie with celebrated violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. The tour will then conclude with a visit to the Philharmonie de Paris at the end of this week on September 09.

Performing a variety of spectacular programmes on the tour, Nelsons and the BSO are playing works including John Williams’ Second Violin Concerto with Anne-Sophie Mutter, Gershwin’s Piano Concerto and Saint-Saëns’ Piano Concerto No. 5 with Jean-Yves Thibaudet as well as Prokofiev’s Fifth Symphony, Ravel's “La Valse” and Stravinsky’s “Petrushka”. The tour also served as the backdrop for the European premiere of Julia Adolphe’s “Makeshift Castle”, and Carlos Simon’s “Four Black American Dances”, both of which were commissioned by the BSO and have been well-received by both audiences and critics.
