KD SCHMID expands its international team with the appointment of Huw Humphreys

We are thrilled to announce that Huw Humphreys will be joining KD SCHMID as Senior Creative Director, starting on 27 November 2023.

This is a newly designed role at the company with a roaming brief across all of KD SCHMID’s key business areas working closely together with our Deutsche Klassik network. We continue to combine and enhance our wealth of experience in concert promotion, artist management and orchestral projects. Huw’s initial focus will be creating ambitious and imaginative orchestral projects whilst enhancing the KD SCHMID touring model. Partnering with the leadership team in our Orchestra Touring Department, Huw will support the development of the department, working across existing key clients, and at the same time fostering new relationships.

Huw will also join the company’s senior leadership team, guiding our future development, whilst preserving our KD SCHMID values and unwavering dedication to our artists, orchestral clients, and projects.

Huw Humphreys was Head of Music at London's Barbican Centre, Europe's largest multi-arts centre, from September 2014 to December 2022. Prior to this role, he spent nine years as the Director of Artistic Planning at the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra in Australia, eight years at the artist management agency Askonas Holt and four years as General Manager of the European Union Youth Orchestra. Huw has served on the juries of BBC Young Musician, Cadaqués Orchestra International Conducting Competition, Côr Cymru and the OSM Manulife Competition and has written and lectured extensively on music.
