With deep sadness: Lars Vogt 1970 - 2022

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Lars Vogt died peacefully surrounded by his family in Erlangen on 5 September at the age of only 51. He fought heroically against his cancer until the end. A full and rich life as a pianist and conductor lies behind him. He first pulled attention when he won the second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1990. KD SCHMID accompanied his career for over 30 years. During his remarkable pianistic career, Lars Vogt has performed with numerous leading international orchestras. In addition to his distinguished career as a pianist, Lars Vogt has also been a celebrated conductor, since July 2020 as  Music Director of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris. Chamber music was another great passion for Lars Vogt. In 1998 he established the chamber music festival "Spannungen" in Heimbach, one of the most renowned chamber music festivals in Germany.

Lars Vogt's positive attitude towards life was infectious and his music-making touched, enriched and inspired many people and struck directly at the heart and soul. He brought people together and inspired them with his passion for music as only few can.  Our thoughts are with his wife Anna Reszniak, his children and his family. Lars will be missed!
