Gewandhausorchester Leipzig Season Opening Concerts

Tonight, September 14, Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig open their 2023/24 season together with pianist Kirill Gerstein and sporano Sarah Wegener.

They will perform Thomas Adès' 'In Seven Days' for piano and orchestra, as well as two works by Jean Sibelius: His 1913 tone poem 'Luonnotar' for soprano and orchestra, and his Symphony No. 5. The season will continue next week, on September 21st, with Andris Nelsons conducting Mendelssohn's 'Lobgesang', as well as Mendelssohn's fifth symphony.
