Christoph Drescher appointed Managing Director of KD SCHMID

Berlin, 14 December 2023.

We, KD SCHMID, are a recognised market leader specialising in touring major orchestras and bespoke artist management since 1959, announce today that Christoph Drescher has been named Managing Director, starting on 1 January 2024. Christoph Drescher has been the Managing Director and Festival Director of the Thuringia Bach Festival (Thüringer Bachwochen) since 2005 and brings over 20 years of experience in the arts and music sector to KD SCHMID.

Based in Berlin, Christoph will be running the German offices of KD SCHMID and will bring a wealth of diverse expertise across the various offices of the company in Berlin, Hannover, London, and New York. Working closely together with Managing Director, Karen McDonald and Burkhard Glashoff, Managing Director of the parent company Deutsche Klassik, Christoph will cultivate a dynamic and forward-looking company. 

The appointment of Christoph Drescher will allow a seamless transition for Cornelia Schmid, who has held the position of Managing Director since 1994 and is now preparing to assume her new role as President of KD SCHMID.

Christoph Drescher is the most recent addition to KD SCHMID series of pivotal appointments, notably that of Huw Humphreys, who assumed the position of Senior Creative Director in November 2023.
