BBC Proms 2024 mit Seong-Jin Cho, Stefan Dohr, Tianyi Lu, John Storgårds & Kazuki Yamada

We are delighted that five KD SCHMID artists will be appearing at this summer’s BBC Proms

Making her debut at the BBC Proms, on Sunday 11 August Tianyi Lu will appear for the first time with the BBC Symphony Orchestra with a programme of Dukas’ Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Francisco Coll’s Cello Concerto joined by Sol Gabetta, Puccini’s Preludio sinfonico and Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite.

Returning to the Royal Albert Hall, the BBC Philharmonic and their Chief Conductor John Storgårds will give two performances on Wednesday 31 July, and Wednesday 7 August. Their first programme includes Cassandra Miller’s Viola Concerto with Lawrence Power and Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 4, and the second programme features Schumann’s Genoveva Overture, Sibelius’ Pohjola's Daughter, and the UK premiere of Hans Abrahamsen's Horn Concerto performed by Stefan Dohr, Principal Horn of the Berlin Philharmonic and for whom the concerto was written. The evening will conclude with Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Kazuki Yamada, Music Director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, makes his third appearance at the festival on Thursday 22 August, performing a programme of Ravel’s Ma Mere L’Oye, Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 27 with Paul Lewis, Augusta Holmès’ La Nuit et l'amour, and Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition.

Finally, on Friday 9 August, Seong-Jin Cho returns to the Proms for the fourth time to join the BBC Symphony Orchestra and their Chief Conductor Sakari Oramo, performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 “Jeunehomme”.
