Anna Rakitina makes her debut with the BBC Philharmonic

Anna Rakitina makes her UK conducting debut with the BBC Philharmonic this Saturday 2nd March at 7:30om, at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester.

Featuring Smetana's beloved tone poem depicting Bohemia's great river 'Vltava', Julia Perry's distinctive, African American inspired setting of the 'Stabat Mater' performed by contralto Jess Dandy, and Shostakovich's canonic, politically inflected 'Symphony No.5', this exciting programme responds to musical nationalism and controversy.
