Andris Nelsons and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig inaugurate the new season in Essen

The Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, a KD SCHMID touring orchestra, will kick off its 2024/25 season with a highly anticipated concert series under the baton of acclaimed conductor Andris Nelsons. Renowned pianist Daniil Trifonov will join the orchestra as the soloist, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto in C major.

The programme will also feature Adès' 'Shanty – Over the Sea' for string orchestra, as well as Bruckner's Symphony No. 6 in A major. The season-opening concerts will take place on Sunday, September 1, 2024, at 19:00pm in the Essen Philharmonie, followed by performances at the  Kölner Philharmonie on Monday, September 2, 2024, at 20:00pm and at the Lucerne Festival in Lucerne on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at 19:30.
