On November 9th, the London Philharmonic Orchestra will begin its concert tour across Germany, with a first concert in Vienna. Under the direction of its chief conductor Edward Gardner, works by Brahms, Beethoven, Bartók, Wagner and Schumann will be performed, as well as a commissioned work by the great Cuban-American composer Tania León.
The core of each programme will be the first piano concerto by Johannes Brahms, performed by the Icelandic keyboard magician Víkingur Ólafsson. The tour includes concerts at some of the most renowned concert halls in Europe, including the Musikverein Vienna, the Festspielhaus Baden-Baden and the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg. At the latter, the orchestra will perform two different programmes, the second concert featuring cellist Pablo Ferrandez.
The tour is presented by KD SCHMID. Tickets are available via the websites of the respective venues.
