The energetic, young conductor Anna Rakitina returns to the Malmö Symphony Orchestra for a festive concert. On December 19, she will lead a captivating program featuring two flute concertos by Vivaldi, Wilhelm Stenhammar’s evocative piece Midvinter, and Tchaikovsky’s beloved Nutcracker Suite—a timeless seasonal favorite.
Tchaikovsky’s enchanting music will also grace the stage in Dresden. On December 25 and in two additional performances on December 26, Anna Rakitina will, conduct her debut with the Dresden Philharmonic at the Kulturpalast. The first half of the program includes another masterpiece: Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a work that was famously deemed “unplayable” at its debut. However, in the hands of Augustin Hadelich, this year’s Artist in Residence with the Dresden Philharmonic, the concerto finds its ideal interpreter. The internationally acclaimed violinist, celebrated for his expressive artistry and remarkable sensitivity, transforms this technical challenge into a profound musical experience. Audiences can expect a performance that combines virtuosic precision with emotional depth.
Unfortunately, this extraordinary musical event is reserved for those who secured tickets in advance— all three Dresden concerts are completely sold out.
