KD SCHMID is delighted to announce that Adrien Perruchon has been appointed Principal Conductor of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, effective 1 April 2025. He becomes the fourth Principal Conductor in the orchestra’s history – and notably, the first international artist to hold the position.
This milestone marks a deepening of Perruchon’s long-standing relationship with South Korea, a country he describes as central to his musical development:
“Korea has played a pivotal role in my life and development as a musician—it is, in fact, where I first began conducting. This makes me especially happy and proud to be associated with one of the country’s most important orchestras and to have the opportunity to collaborate with its musicians. For me, this marks a particularly special and meaningful milestone in my musical journey as we embark on this collaboration.”
Perruchon’s connection to Korea extends beyond the Bucheon Philharmonic: over the years, he has built a strong network of musical partnerships with orchestras, festivals and soloists as well as developed a great connection with the audience throughout the country.
His appreciation for the orchestra’s distinctive character was immediate:
“From our very first collaboration, I deeply appreciated their taste for spontaneity and freedom—qualities I always seek in music-making. This shared musical approach allowed us to bond instantly.”
The Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra expressed its enthusiasm about the appointment:
"After a remarkable collaboration in concert and at the 2024 Orchestra Festival, we are thrilled to welcome Adrien Perruchon as the new Principal Conductor of the Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra! We can’t wait to witness the electrifying chemistry between Maestro Perruchon and our musicians as they embark on this exciting new chapter together."
