Kerem Hasan appointed Music Director of Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe

Kerem Hasan will take up the position of Music Director at Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe from the 2027/28 season. At the multi-genre theatre, he succeeds Georg Fritzsch. The contract was signed on 18 June 2026.

Intendant Christian Firmbach said of the appointment: "I very much look forward to working with Kerem Hasan, who stood out from the final shortlist of candidates through his great artistic vision and met with exceptionally broad approval throughout the theatre. His immediately infectious deep love of music and his creativity will help us lead the Badische Staatskapelle and the Badisches Staatstheater [...] into a new future."

Kerem Hasan himself said: "When I first conducted the Badische Staatskapelle, I was struck by the orchestra's extraordinary musicality and passion.
