John Storgårds will take on the role of Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie starting in the 2026/27 season. His collaboration with the orchestra will begin with a tour in autumn 2026 and a chamber music project in summer 2027.

Following their joint tour in 2024, Storgårds was elected by the orchestra’s general assembly as successor to Jonathan Nott and Lothar Zagrosek.

The Junge Deutsche Philharmonie brings together top students from music universities across German-speaking countries. Each project features a newly assembled ensemble, dedicated to its repertoire with care and energy, combining classical, romantic, and contemporary works, and reflecting the orchestra’s collaborative, democratic structure.
