Sabine Meyer's concert in Bern today marks the end of her extraordinary career as a soloist. For more than four decades, she has left her mark on international concert life and brought the clarinet back to the center of the podium as a solo instrument.

The past few months have been marked by her farewell to the stage. Her last concerts took her once again to key venues such as the Berlin Philharmonie, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg and the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, as well as to festivals that accompanied her career, including a mini-residency at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. The programmes reflected the entire spectrum of her work: chamber music with long-time partners such as Nils Mönkemeyer, William Youn or the Alliage Quintet as well as central works of the clarinet literature.

Over the course of her career, Sabine Meyer has performed with more than three hundred orchestras worldwide. She was particularly interested in chamber music and contemporary music, for which numerous works have been dedicated to her. Her discography and awards such as the eight-time ECHO Klassik and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class round off her career.

Cornelia Schmid, Honorary President KD SCHMID, looks back on the collaboration:
"For over forty years, since the beginning of her career, Sabine Meyer has been represented worldwide by KD Schmid. An unparalleled loyalty, from which a long-standing friendship grew, certainly also shaped by her close connection to the city where she studied, Hanover.
I will never forget the encounters in her wonderful farmhouse in the countryside around Hanover, where Sabine and her husband Reiner Wehle surrounded themselves with artist friends as well as their children, dog, horses and lots of nature at house concerts.
I look back with great gratitude on our many years of collaboration and wish Sabine Meyer all the very best for her well-deserved retirement."
