Thomas Hampson in Concert at the Gewandhaus Leipzig

Renowned baritone Thomas Hampson will perform at the Gewandhaus zu Leipzig on October 13, 2024, at 19:30pm. The programme includes a selection of Charles Ives' '114 Songs', orchestrated by William Bolcom, featuring numbers 88, 82, 74, 56, 10, 51, 67, and 80. In addition, the concert will highlight Arnold Schoenberg’s 'Ode to Napoleon Bonaparte', Op. 41, a powerful work for speaker, piano, and string quartet, set to a text by Byron.

Under the baton of conductor Dennis Russell Davies, the MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig will accompany Hampson for this captivating evening of 20th-century American and European music. The pairing of Ives' lyrical songs with Schoenberg’s intense, politically charged piece promises a thought-provoking experience for audiences.
