New Year’s Concert with the hr-Sinfonieorchester, Izabelė Jankauskaitė, and Guido Sant’Anna

The hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt invites audiences to its annual New Year’s Concert in the elegant setting of the Wiesbaden Kurhaus. Under the baton of conductor Izabelė Jankauskaitė and with Brazilian violinist Guido Sant’Anna, currently a KD SCHMID Fellow, the programme brings together musical and artistic connections.

Izabelė Jankauskaitė gained international recognition in 2022 as the winner of the Neeme Järvi Prize at the prestigious Gstaad Conducting Academy. She is currently serving as the orchestra’s Assistant Conductor, working closely with Chief Conductor Alain Altinoglu, who also led Guido Sant’Anna’s acclaimed European debut at the Rheingau Musik Festival’s 2023 opening concert alongside the hr-Sinfonieorchester.

Born in São Paulo in 2005, Guido Sant’Anna made his mark on the international stage in 2022, winning the International Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna. Appropriately, the programme includes music by Fritz Kreisler, with his arrangements for violin and orchestra providing the audience with the opportunity of experiencing Sant’Annas love and connection to this repertoire.

The evening celebrates the Viennese musical tradition with works by Johann Strauss, Franz Schubert, Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and Richard Strauss. Highlights include Strauss’s Overture to 'Die Fledermaus', the Kaiser-Walzer, and 'On the Beautiful Blue Danube'. Schubert’s Polonaise in B-flat Major and Kreisler’s pieces add both virtuosic and lyrical touches to the festive programme.

The concert will be broadcast live on hr2-kultur on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 3:30 PM.
