Michael Francis becomes the new Principal conductor of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz

British conductor Michael Francis has been appointed Principal Conductor of the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, taking up the position from September 2019 with an initial five-year contract. Coinciding with the orchestra’s 100th anniversary, his arrival marks a new era for the Ludwigshafen-based ensemble. In the current season, local audiences can already get to know Michael Francis throughout a comprehensive artist portrait with a total of fifteen concerts in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region.
Michael Francis is currently in his fourth season as Music Director of the Florida Orchestra, and since summer 2015 has been Music and Artistic Director of the Mainly Mozart Festival in San Diego.
