Jaemin Han joins KD SCHMID for General Management

KD SCHMID is excited to welcome South Korean cellist Jaemin Han to its roster for general management. Han rose to international attention in May 2021 after his triumph at the George Enescu International Competition, making him the competition’s youngest ever winner at the age of 15. His first recital tour of Korea this year, culminating with a performance at Seoul Arts Center, was met with great acclaim. He begins the 2022/23 season with a performance of Beethoven’s concerto for violin, cello, and piano with the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Peter Ruzicka in Bucharest on 4 September.

Managing Director Karen McDonald says: “Jaemin Han’s staggering talent first became clear to us when listening to his interpretation of Shostakovich’s first cello concerto; his innate musicality and assured stage presence are remarkable, and all the more so for one so young. Later meeting him in person, we were struck by his engaging personality, and his gentle yet charismatic nature. He has enormous artistic potential, and we are absolutely delighted to welcome him to KD SCHMID!”

Further highlights for the upcoming season for Jaemin Han include a tour of Korea with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg under the baton of Gustavo Gimeno, his New Zealand debut with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra and Shi-yeon Sung, and a recital at the Tongyeong International Music Festival.

Welcome to the KD SCHMID family, Jaemin!
