'Mozart and Mevlana', Fazil Say's new composition commissioned by the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester, will receive its acclaimed premiere at the KKL Luzern on 6th and 7th November. An additional guest performance will take place at the Rosey Concert Hall in Rolle.
In this work, pianist and composer Fazil Say combines the classical genius of Mozart with the spiritual and poetic essence of Mevlana Rumi, a Persian-Turkish mystic, scholar and poet of the 13th century, in an 'answer' to Mozart's sublime Requiem, which will be performed at the beginning of the concert. Say describes his work as metamorphoses on themes from Mozart's Requiem, enriched with Requiem texts in Turkish, creating a unique musical bridge between Orient and Occident.
The concert showcases a remarkable array of soloists, consisting of soprano Fatma Said, mezzo-soprano Marianne Crebassa, tenor Pene Pati, and bass Alexandros Stavrakakis. These exceptional singers are supported by the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester and the Rundfunkchor Berlin, under the direction of conductor Michael Sanderling.
