Anna Rakitina and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the 46th Dresdner Musikfestspiele

Today Anna Rakitina will conduct the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin at the 46th annual Dresder Musikfestspiele.

In Dresden's beautiful Frauenkirche at 19:30pm, Anna Rakitina will lead the orchestra through ‘Adoration’ by Florence Price, recognised as the first black female composer, John Williams' classic “Theme from Schindler's List”, Miklós Rózsa's concerto from Alfred Hitchcock's “Spellbound” and Rózsa's Sinfonia Concertante for violin, cello and orchestra, inspired by the composer's Magyar roots, with soloists Daniel Hope (violin) and Jan Vogler (cello).

The second half of the programme is dedicated to Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5, an epitome of late Romanticism that was poorly received during the composer's lifetime but is now considered one of his most popular large-scale works.

You can find more information and remaining tickets on the Dresder Musikfestspiele website.
