Alexandra Dariescu: successful tour in Down Under and Canada

Whether in New Zealand, Australia or Canada - everywhere Alexandra Dariescu has left behind an enthusiastic audience. First stop: the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra. On the programme: Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1. The New Zealand Herald wrote: “Together with [Music Director] Bellincampi, [Dariescu] was always alert to the dramatic potential of musical dialogue, and her central Andantino semplice was a captivating nocturne.” The tour continued with an appearance with Sydney Symphony Orchestra, here with Ravel's Piano Concerto, conducted by Jun Märkl. Alexandra Dariescu's interpretation of this work was “energetic and sparkling”, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Limelight Magazine wrote of “her impressive technique, her expressive approach and her delightful stage presence.” The online newspaper J-Wire joins in the praise: Dariescu “climbed the Ravel mountain and stood on the top in a performance bristling with technical brilliance and tender romanticism.” Her subsequent concert with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra can be listened to here. Finally, Dariescu crossed the Pacific Ocean to Canada - last stop of the tour was the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec, this time with the Piano Concerto by Edvard Grieg. “With body and soul", according to the daily newspaper Le Soleil, the pianist surrendered to the tumultuous cadenza of the first movement. [...] She is at her best: the piano roars and dances with an irresistible swing.”
