2014: Rhinegold Award for Cornelia Schmid

In 1968, Hans Ulrich Schmid first toured the Academy of St Martin in the Fields to Germany, marking the beginning of KD SCHMID‘S association with British orchestras that has continued to flourish until this day. In 2014, this position was further cemented with his daughter, Cornelia Schmid, receiving the Rhinegold Award for her touring activities with British orchestras. The London Philharmonic Orchestra, who first travelled to Germany in 1969 under Sir Georg Solti, still tours throughout Germany at least once per season, with their next tour due to take place in November 2019 under Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski. The London Symphony Orchestra also plays an equally prominent role in the market with around as many appearances in Germany; their next tour in August 2019 will be directed by Principal Conductor Sir Simon Rattle. Other top orchestras include the Philharmonia Orchestra, who will return to German concert halls in September 2019 with Principal Conductor Esa-Pekka Salonen.
