Kerem Hasan is regarded as one of the most exciting young British conductors. Winning the Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award in the summer of 2017 laid the foundation for his flourishing international career. Prior to that, he had already gained attention as a finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London and as Associate Conductor of the Welsh National Opera. From September 2019 to June 2023, he served as Chief Conductor in Austria, leading the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck to great success.

Highlights of the 2023/2024 season include guest engagements with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Dresden Philharmonic, SWR Symphonieorchester and Turku Philharmonic. He will make his debuts with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Kymi Sinfonietta, PHION Orchestra, RTÉ Concert Orchestra and Collegium Musicum Basel. Further afield, in North America, Kerem Hasan will work together with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra for the first time. Returning invitations will take him to the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, MDR Sinfonieorchester, Noord Nederlands Orkest, Romanian National Radio Orchestra, and Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música. In the opera pit, Kerem Hasan will lead a new production of "La Rondine" at Opera North.

Among his recent successes are opera performances at the English National Opera ("Carmen", "Cosi"), in Glyndebourne ("Die Zauberflöte"), Glyndebourne on Tour ("The Rake’s Progress"), the Welsh National Opera ("La Forza del destino") and the Tyrolean State Theatre ("Samson et Dalila", "Rigoletto", "The Rape of Lucretia", "La Traviata"). He has worked with the Concertgebouworkest, London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna, Danish National Symphony Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Filarmonica Teatro La Fenice, Toronto Symphony Orchestra and Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra. In the summer of 2022, he made his US debut with concerts at the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony Orchestra and Minnesota Orchestra.

Kerem Hasan has attended masterclasses with David Zinman, Edo de Waart, Gianandrea Noseda, and Esa-Pekka Salonen. He built on that and gained further experience by assisting his mentor, Bernard Haitink, with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Concertgebouworkest and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.

In the summer of 2016, Kerem Hasan attended the Conducting Academy of the Aspen Music Festival, where he collaborated with Robert Spano. He returned to the festival in 2017 as a Conducting Fellow and subsequently received the Aspen Conductor Prize. As Assistant Conductor, he was once again part of the Aspen Festival in the summer of 2018. In August 2022, he returned as to the Aspen Chamber Orchestra as guest conductor.

Born in London in 1992, Kerem Hasan studied piano and conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. He later deepened and perfected his training in conducting at the Zurich University of the Arts under the guidance of Johannes Schlaefli.

SEASON 2023/2024
