Biography – about the artist.

Chefdirigent Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck

With the commencement of the 2019/2020 season, Kerem Hasan assumes his position as chief conductor of the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck.

In Summer 2017, Kerem Hasan laid the foundations for a very promising international career by winning the Nestlé and Salzburg Young Conductors Award. Prior to this, the young British conductor had already attracted attention as a finalist in the Donatella Flick Conducting Competition in London and as Associate Conductor of the Welsh National Opera.

Amongst his current season highlights are opera performances in Glyndebourne (Die Zauberflöte), Cardiff (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Innsbruck (Samson et Dalila and Rigoletto) and debuts with the SWR Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia. Further to this, he is also invited as guest conductor of the Lahti Symphony Orchestra, the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra and the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi. In addition, he returns to the MDR-Sinfonieorchester, the Noord Nederlands Orkest and the Camerata Salzburg. With the latter, with Lucas & Arthur Jussen as soloists, he will perform all the Beethoven piano concertos in Rotterdam on three evenings. In June 2020, he makes his US debut with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.

Kerem Hasan’s previous engagements include opera performances with the Welsh National Opera (La Forza del destino), the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck (Les Contes d'Hoffmann) and the Meininger Staatstheater (Hänsel und Gretel). He has conducted concerts with the Concertgebouworkest, the London Symphony Orchestra, the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien, the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, the Teatro La Fenice, the New Japan Philharmonic and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. In masterclasses, he received valuable advice from David Zinman, Edo de Waart, Gianandrea Noseda and Esa-Pekka Salonen. On the invitation of his mentor Bernard Haitink, he assisted him with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Concertgebouworkest and the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks.

In the summer of 2016, Kerem Hasan first attended the Conducting Academy of the Aspen Music Festival, where he worked with Robert Spano, Hugh Wolff and Federico Cortese. In 2017, he returned to the festival as Conducting Fellow and was subsequently awarded the Aspen Conductor Prize. As Assistant Conductor, he was in Aspen again in summer 2018.

Kerem Hasan, born in London in 1992, studied piano and conducting at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Later, he continued his education at the University of Music "Franz Liszt" Weimar and enhanced and elaborated it at the Zurich University of the Arts with Johannes Schlaefli.

Press.

„On the podium stood Kerem Hasan, and he conducted the orchestra as if he had been born to do so.“

Politiken, Thomas Michelsen, 24.11.2018

„The 26-year-old Londoner is undoubtedly one of the greatest conducting talents of his generation.“

Drehpunkt Kultur, Gottfried Franz Kasparek, 07.08.2018

„This 26-year-old takes Haitink's interpretation remarkably smoothly, albeit with less bitterness and less hopelessness. The musicians applauded, this is the guy they are going to keep an eye on.“

De Volkskrant, Guido van Oorschot, 10.06.2018
