New Signing: Tianyi Lu
We welcome young New Zealander conductor Tianyi Lu at KD Schmid for worldwide representation. Her great talent has already been recognised by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, where she was appointed Assistant Conductor, as well as by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, which selected her for the Dudamel Fellowship. Both positions started in 2017.
Upcoming highlights include concerts with the Melbourne Symphony, conducting their Cybec 21st Century Australian Composers' Program as well as education and outreach projects, and concerts with the Auckland Philharmonia.
In the current season Lu has worked closely with Sir Andrew Davis, Gustavo Dudamel, Susanna Mälkki, Matthias Pintscher and Carlo Montanaro. She attended the Linda and Mitch Hart Institute for Women Conductors with the Dallas Opera and was subsequently invited back to work on their production of La Traviata and to conduct a mainstage concert of Donizetti in 2017. Lu studied in Auckland, Melbourne and Cardiff, completing her Master of Music at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with David Jones in 2015.
