Armida Quartet's USA debut tour includes first performance in New York City

27.03.2018

The Armida Quartet will make their much-anticipated USA debut with a six-date tour in April. The tour, which begins at the Chrysler Museum of Art in Norfolk on 2 April, will continue with performances at the Library Theatre, Williamsburg, the Morgan Library & Museum, New York City, the Christ Church United Methodist, Charleston and the Peabody Hall, Boston. The final concert takes place on 10 April in Gettysburg, PA.

The programme includes quartets by Smetana, Prokofiev, Beethoven, Mozart and Jörg Widmann. In New York, the quartet will be performing part of their established Mozart Exploded series, which re-envisions Mozart as a radical, modern composer by juxtaposing pieces from Mozart’s 26 string quartets alongside new works by Jörg Widmann. Extracts from Mozart’s letters will be read out between the musical performances.
