In addition, over 75,000 metro Detroit area students participate in the DSO´s educational activities, including school concerts presented at the Max M. Fisher Music Center.

The best musicians from around the world call Detroit their home, creating one of the finest orchestras anywhere. Hearing the DSO perform in Orchestra Hall, with some of the most superb acoustics in the world, is an unforgettable experience.

This season marks the first created in consultation with Principal Guest Conductor and Artistic Advisor Peter Oundjian. A diverse roster of visiting guest conductors will lead repertoire ranging from classical masterworks to 21st century music, including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Dennis Russell Davies, Sir Andrew Davis. Esteemed soloists include Viviane Hagner, James Ehnes, Vadim Repin and Leila Josefowitz. Highlighting the season will be DSO performances of six 9th symphonies by classical music´s greatest composers, including Beethoven´s monumental final symphony.

Spearheaded by the leadership of the DSO, the Orchestra Place project has been the catalyst for more than $245 million in urban redevelopment investment, including the Max M. Fisher Music Center; the Orchestra Place office complex and parking deck; the Detroit School of Arts, a magnet public high school; and the 55-unit Ellington Lofts and the Woodward Garage. The Max represents the culmination of the DSO´s vision of how a symphony orchestra can impact and serve its community.
