Kirill Troussov
Violin
Born in St. Petersburg in 1982, Kirill Troussov took his first violin lessons at the Rimsky-Korsakov-Conservatory aged four. He began his studies with Irina Etigon, and continued with Zakhar Bron in Cologne and to this day with Christoph Poppen in Munich. Troussov carries with him the musical impressions made on him as a student in masterclasses with Igor Oistrakh and Yehudi Menuhin, and the influences of the old school of Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein and David Oistrakh. Aged six, Troussov made his concerto debut with the Russian National Orchestra under the direction of Arnold Katz in Moscow.
More recently Krill Troussov took the concert platform by storm in performances of Bartok’s violin concerto No. 1 and Rudi Stephan’s “Music for Violin and Orchestra in one movement” replacing Gidon Kremer in a performance with the Orchestre National de France directed by Daniele Gatti. Troussov closed the 2008/09 season making his debut with the Orchestre National de Paris.
Kirill Troussov has been a guest soloist of the Munich Philharmonic, Bamberg Symphony, Berlin Staatskapelle, Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra, Radio Symphony Orchestra of Baden-Baden and Freiburg, Maggio Musical Fiorentino, and Orchestre National de France under the direction of such conductors as Jirí Belohlávek, Mikko Frank, Daniele Gatti, Louis Langrée, Sir Neville Marriner, Christoph Poppen, and Vladimir Spivakov.
Festival engagements as a soloist and chamber musician regularly include Verbier Festival, where he returns again in 2009, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, Ludwigsburg Schlossfestival and the Kronberg Academy – the latter also giving masterclasses. His chamber music partners often include Yuri Bashmet, Mischa Maisky, Heinrich Schiff, Julian Rachlin David Aaron Carpenter and Lawrence Power.
Troussov’s duo partner throughout his career has been his sister Alexandra Troussova. As well as regular duo performances, they have recorded a recital disc for EMI and last year’s performance at Verbier Festival 2008 was filmed for Idéale Audience TV company both receiving high praise from the press.
Kirill Troussov has taken first prizes of the Yehudi Menuhin, Oleg Kagan and the Wienawski violin competitions. Furthermore he was awarded the Davidoff-Preis of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and the “Reuter-Scholarship” of the Verbier Festival.
Kirill Troussov plays Antonio Stradivari’s „The Brodsky“ from 1702, on which Adolph Brodsky performed the world premiere of Tchaikovsky’s violin concerto on 4th December 1879.
